"...so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

Isaiah 55:11

Reading the Bible

To benefit from faith-based coaching, prior knowledge of the Bible is helpful, but not required. You will, however, grow in your knowledge of the Bible as we take steps together in acquiring wisdom from it.

New to the Bible

Why not get started now? The Bible Gateway website and App make available the entire Bible in several languages and translations. To read in English, the New International Version (NIV) is highly recommended. Another useful website is www.enduringword.com, which provides commentary, or explanations for each book in the Bible. Start reading Proverbs, which is loaded with good advice, and lots of funny but true observations about human behaviors! Then read the gospel of Luke in the New Testament to learn Jesus’s life and teaching.  As a new reader, you may have a lot of questions or may find something difficult to understand. Write down your questions and do a quick search on Enduring Word or other resources. But don’t get stuck on these questions. Simply keep on reading to the end to get an overview, then come back to look at the questions again. A 3rd book to read is Philippians, a letter from Apostle Paul to the church in Philippi. Here he gives them overall guidance on the mindset and attitude of those who seek to be like Jesus.

YouVersion is an App that has Bible Plans on different topics.

Basic or Intermediate Bible Reader

Start reading the Bible regularly to grow your knowledge and faith. Read in smaller chunks and take the time to go deeper and reflect. Dedicate a notebook to write down questions and reflections. Always ask yourself, what does this mean to me? How can I apply my learning today?

Advanced Bible Learners

God’s mystery is deep, who can understand it all? Even if you have been reading the Bible for years, you can still experience profound changes if you are open. Have a child-like heart to continue learning and discovering. Be willing to be challenged about your assumptions and preconceived notions that you may value as the truth. Trust in God to guide you in this journey.
